Our country has changed dramatically in the last 40 plus years. We have improved in race relations in many areas and have buried Jim Crow forever. Unfortunately, the county's worst recession ever is affecting African Americans and Latinos in high numbers. According to the Sunday Edition of the New York Times, foreclosures have hit African Americans and Latinos in New York City deeper and harder then Whites. We have to ask why is this happening? Although this economic crisis is affecting everyone around the world, our minority population is suffering. We must make sure that we help each other even if we are hurting ourselves. I believe that if we do this, everyone will be rewarded greatly.

Hi Doug. I agree with your last comment that everyone should help someone else. But in today's society you have some who help others and some who don't. That's just the way it is. I wish people would be more caring. It could change this world greatly. However on the flip side of your commentary people have to be more mindful of their own actions and how their decisions will affect them in the long run. As you know, when it came to the housing crisis many banks were telling people that they could afford more house than they could actually afford. Yes, the banks are to blame but we also have to accept responsibility for our actions as well. Just because the banks said yes many people should have said no. I know there are many other arguments that can be made but I really want to see people accept responsibility for their own actions and stop blaming others.
